We needed Therapist oversight and buy-in on AI

HelloSelf is a teletherapy startup connecting mental health patients with therapists. While designing our first AI-summary feature for patients, we hit a critical constraint: therapists needed to trust and approve any AI output before it could safely reach patients.

This was a problem because without therapist buy-in, we couldn’t deliver summaries to patients—or build momentum for future AI features. AI adoption couldn’t just benefit patients; it had to also benefit therapists.

Opportunity

How can we… earn therapist trust in AI—so they feel confident using it themselves and enabling it for their patients?

So, how can we…
design an inclusive experience for Buddhists with mobility-impairment?

XX of all Therapists use AI Clinical Summaries every week

Desired outcome:

Provide therapists with a simple, integrated way to manage both AI summaries—so it enhances their workflow, preserves their clinical authority, and builds confidence to advocate it for their patients.

So, how can we…
design an inclusive experience for Buddhists with mobility-impairment?

Revised Product Roadmap

Revised Product Roadmap

Worked with the team to shift the plan from focusing only on patients to supporting both therapists and patients with two types of summaries. This made the experience safer and more collaborative.

New AI-ready Call Station

New AI-ready Call Station

I designed the UX/UI for how therapists activate AI summarisation—making the experience clear, collaborative, and easy to manage during live sessions.

New AI-powered Workstation

New AI-powered Workstation

I redesigned the therapist workstation UX/UI to embed both Therapy and Clinical summaries—making the experience feel clear and grounded in therapist-control. I also designed a feedback loop to let therapists rate summaries, helping improve our model quality over time.
